You can recognize a ballgown by it's big bottom part/gown

A rococo gown is from the 17-18th century  French era   Regency Era gowns are high waisted gowns with puffy sleeves from 1811 to 1820 England Empire gowns are inspired by the regency era styled gownsMermaid style gowns can  be recognized by the tight waist going down into a flowy, spread out bottom part of the gown, it got it's name because of it's resemblance to a mermaid tail

The A line gown got it's name from the  bottom that flows down naturally from the fabric used Empire waist gowns have a recognizable corset   waist that made it popular in the late 18th and early 19th century, it was usually paired with a fancy hat  The ruffled gown is basically a gown/dress decorated with ruffles There are also many gowns from different countries, including Japanese style gowns that's recognized from the kimono style it has.  There are also Chinese dresses although there are many different kinds of Chinese dresses from different dynasties, My favorite is this one from the Wei & Jin Dynasty
